Ride AMTRAK to New London to connect with the New London ferry, to Westerly to connect with the Westerly Airport, or to Kingston to connect with the Point Judith ferries. Call AMTRAK at 800-USA-RAIL.

Note: High Speed Ferry, New London and Montauk ferries are seasonal, Block Island Ferry is year-round.

Kingston to Point Judith (Galilee) taxi ride is at least twenty minutes.

The bus ride is almost an hour.

The Long Island Railroad (718-217-LIRR) connects to the Montauk ferry.

Bus Service
Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (800-244-0444) operates buses to Point Judith (Galilee) from Kingston... check their schedules carefully.

 

By Private Boat

Block Island is one of the foremost yachting destinations in New England. It has two excellent harbors:

Old Harbor on the East Side of the Island is protected by a breakwater and has limited space for dockage at the town dock. It is right in the center of town opposite the National Hotel.

Old Harbor is nice, but it includes: a commercial ferry landing, limited dockage, no anchoring space inside the breakwater.

New Harbor on the West Side of the Island, Great Salt Pond.

This harbor is about 15 minutes from town. It is within an enclosed salt pond, has 3 marinas, 100 town moorings and anchorage for 1000 yachts.                         Back To Home Page

There is a General Aviation Airport with a 2500 X 100 foot paved lighted runway (10-28).
Approximately 20 tie downs are available.
Grass parking is available for approximately 150 aircraft.
No fuel or FBO services.
Transient landing fees are reasonable.
Overnight parking fee $5.00 single, $10.00 twin. (Please verify fees.)
VOR/DME (Sandy Point, SEY, 118.7) on field.
IFR non-precision approaches available.

There is daily Scheduled service from Westerly, RI is offered by New England Airlines, and air charter service from anywhere is available.
