On my last day at The National, I enjoyed a Bloody Mary with all of the toppings. This beverage was absolutely something to write home about. If I wasn't so hungover, I probably would've enjoyed a pot of the clam chowder with it. Highly recommend dining at The National- even if it's just for a liquid lunch.
Great Chowder on the Block! Can't beat sitting on the deck on a sunny day at the National.
Whether it's your first time on The Block or you've been coming to "The Bermuda of The North" for years, no visit is complete without a visit or stay, at The National Hotel. From 'The" best porch bar on the PLANT, to the awesome rooms and service, to smores by the firepit at night. The National is the place to be! We always stay there if they are not booked (they book up quick!) and have so many fond memories of laughing with old friends, or making new friends at the porch bar. Love that the staff REMEMBERS us! It's like going to visit and stay with an old friend.
Had a wonderful time last May. Great food, close to the beach. My entire family came out to enjoy the island. looking forward for a repeat in 2020. Must say my daughter who stayed at a pricier place the prior year could not believe we had a private bathroom. She will be back to the National.
My husband and I came here for our 25th wedding anniversary. For our celebratory dinner, I select the lobster fettuccine. This dish was so delicious, I can taste it when I think of it. Mouth watering and unforgettable ! The lobster was succulent and the cheese sauce was perfectly light, and wonderful. This year we will make it back for our 30th wedding anniversary and if this dish is not on the menu, I surely will make a special request for my favorite dish at this lovely hotel.
My absolute favorite place to stay , eat , enjoy an amazing sunrise , and just people watch while sipping on a refreshing cocktail . The National Hotel has been my "got to" place every summer for over 20 years. Your experience and my experiences at the National never disappoint . They have an phenomenal wrap around porch with the most hospitable staff to enjoy a great New England meal , appetizer of just have a few cocktails and RELAX. My summer is not complete without even just an overnight visit to my most tranquil place ..... The Block ! I cant say enough compliments about this hotel. You must experience the beauty yourself , as i will again this summer again in 2020. See you soon BI ....
I have the Lobster Pasta every time I have dinner at The National! Everything else I have tried has been great, but the Lobster Pasta is unbelievable. Always just the right flavor and level of richness with nice balance from the sun dried tomatoes! I probably have this dish 6-8 times a summer. Of course everything else at The National is top notch and it is the perfect place for drinks anytime with an amazing view and great entertainment.
The lobster pasta is absolutely to die for. This is the first place we stop on our annual block island trip. The cream sauce is just light and amazing, the pasta tender and fresh and the chanterelle mushrooms and tomatoes add the perfect finish. It comes with an insane amount of lobster which is always cooked to perfection. Paired with a glass of crisp white wine or even our favorite, a mojito, and you have the perfect meal.
Savory sweet with a little bit of crunch! Delicious!
We thoroughly enjoyed fish and chips and swordfish dish! All was fresh and perfectly prepared
Can't go wrong with the western omelet and an iced coffee or orange juice
Where do I start? The National has been our favorite hotel on Block Island for years and years. The first time we ever came, my breakfast, which I thoroughly enjoyed was the Banana Almond French Toast. Covered in bananas, chopped almonds, and whipped cream, I savored every bite of it. Breakfast always comes with a beautiful view of the glimmering Atlantic Ocean (and breeze). It was a great way to start the day. The service is wonderful. Everyone is always very nice, and I enjoy talking to them about where they came from, or why they were here this summer. Coming to the National has become a family tradition, and having the French Toast, mine. I hope to return again this year and have my favorite French Toast again, head off to the beach, bike around the island, and sleep well in one of the wonderfully appointed rooms at your hotel.
The lobster roll was amazing! It was warm and juicy- and the roll was so soft ! Amazing dish!
Absolutely my favorite place to eat on the island. Wether it's salad, swordfish or anything in between, the food, service & friendship from the staff is unprecedented. Not to mention the amazing view! #TheNash #islandgirl
Went to your property on Sunday August 11th for your entertainment and cocktails your bartenders were very polite and attentive - your entertainment was fun and we were all dancing enjoying the songs and your fire pits were relaxing -I wish I would have booked a room here instead but came back again for a quick bite to eat on monday which was also delicious - will be booking soon to stay with you in the fall - your staff is amazing
Steamers were sweet and plentiful. Great way to start off our meal. The mudslides were so refreshing on the hot afternoon!
Nice tidy room! The hotel employees were really nice. Conveniently located close to the ferry. The only drawbacks are: no a/c in the rooms & the hotel is not handicapped accessible, as it has a lot of stairs, so travel light!
Some try to imitate but can never duplicate! This plate is light, full of flavor and perfectly delicious. We visit the island once a year every year and I look forward to this particular meal every year! For our family it's not a block island trip unless we stop to eat on the deck at the national to enjoy amazing views and even better food!
Hard to choose one! Everything on the menu is exceptional. Year after year we can count on exceptional food and service. In addition to the lobster pasta, my family always looks forward to the steak frites, swordfish, and so much more! Top shelf mudslides are best on the island too!
I had this for breakfast both mornings I was staying at the national - that's how good it was! Perfect mix of spinach, tomatoes and sausage. not to mention the home fries were great too.

The ocean corner queen is our favorite room in the hotel. Ocean breezes and the most spectacular sunrises overlooking the Harbor. Doesn't get any better!
Best clam chowder by far.
Best chowder I've ever eaten, this is my go-to everywhere so I'm an expert. Makes you wish you could swim in it!
I have to say I travel a lot and this hotel is amazing the history the beauty and the charm are to die for.. the views on the deck while eating brunch looking at.the the beautiful ocean and feeling the summer breeze and hearing people laughing and having a great time. Something about this new England charm hotel makes u feel like your living a dream.. thanks National hotel for everything u do to make us feel like we are home.
One of the best apps we've ever had! My teens especially love them, and now we always get this when we visit. It's like sushi meets spring rolls!
We recently were on Block and our spot did not serve breakfast, so we ended up at the National. The french toast was incredible, such a treat on vacation!
Oh my! I would take the ferry back just to eat this! Our stay was truly amazing...and so close to home. Can't wait to go back!
Ah, the lobster bake! This is my favorite thing on the menu at the National Hotel. The lobster is always perfect, the clams on the side are delicious, the corn, juicy and crunchy, and the potatoes, delicious. The staff are always very attentive and nice and the view is great. Looking out at the water, past the flags lining the hotel's front, it's the perfect New England spot.
This was absolutely the best scallops dish I have ever had. Added to the fantastic view from the porch while eating dinner it was an amazing time. My wife and I came over on the dinner express ferry out of New London. Made our reservations online which was a terrific feature that the National has.
Had seared scallops and asparagus risotto. For dinner. It was marvelous and totally delicious
Treat yourself! If you haven't tried the Banana Almond French Toast you are missing out. This is one of the most delicious breakfast dishes you will ever have. If you really want to spoil yourself...eat it on the deck overlooking the jetty. Now that's vacation.
We had such a great time at The National Hotel! It is such a cute hotel, perfect for a relaxing weekend away!! The location is amazing, too! The staff are all so nice and helpful. Everything during our stay was just wonderful. We cannot wait to go back again soon. Thank you!
Absolutely delicious with a creamy cold mud slide!!
My wife and I stayed there 2yrs ago and it was the most relaxing And enjoyable vacation we ever had. That's why I am rebooking for another trip
The Baked Brie is amazing. Wrapped in flaky puff pastry and served with fruit, this dish is perfect at any time of day. I order the Baked Brie every time I visit the National Hotel.
We had the pleasure of staying at The National for a friend's wedding and enjoying exceptionally fresh seared diver scallops that had the perfect balance of sweetness and the brine of the sea. Seared just enough to have great texture and not so much to be grainy, these scallops will bring me back before too long!
Absolutely delicious! Enjoyed while sitting on deck with beautiful scenery.
